Gathering Of The Gargoyles

Today we are going to tell you about the epic cartoon series Gargoyles. It was a Disney cartoon like no other, it was darker and edgier and was unique. Many of it was based on Scottish mythology and shakespearian plays.

Gargoyles used to air on Disney Channel during the 90's and this was way before Disney became a hum drum teen bop network. You can get the first season of this epic show on dvd now, and hopefully some day Disney will release more seasons of it on dvd as well.

These creatures do indeed exist - in fact some can be sighted in places like St Augustine - but do not worry, these creatures do not attack people it is not their nature.

This show was parodied in Freakazoid as a segment titled Lawn Gnomes.

Our friends in stone are often called grotesques as this is said to be the correct term for these guys.

The Manhattan Clan of gargoyles are actually rather friendly despite their rather menacing appearances. They're the good guys.

If you ever get the chance to, you can watch episodes of the show on Youtube.

This link has an article about the stone gargoyles we see during the day:

Gargoyles are stone by day and warriors by night.

From 1994 - 2009 there was often a Gargoyles fan event called the Gathering. The last one took place near the end of August last year. They have stopped doing these now for some reason, you can find out more about these here:

My brother and I often went to these big Gargoyle gatherings especially in 2007 and 2008 - we also went to last year's one.
