Monster factfile episode 7: Grinches

Welcome to another monstrously good edition of Monster factfile,  in todays episode we will be taking a closer look at my favourite of all monsters - grinches.   I've always admired these creatures,  especially after seeing How The Grinch Stole Christmas with Jim Carrey in it.   Since then i've dreamed of being a grinch,  and now that i'm a weregrinch that dream has come true.


Description:

Grinches are green furry creatures who often steal holidays especially christmas, although the first appearance of one was in Dr Seuss's story How The Grinch Stole Christmas - they had existed even centuries before Theodore Seuss Geisel was even born. In fact the legend behind them is as old as rock, set in a time before time.



Appearance:



There are several different subspecies of grinch most of which are green, the one first seen in the book How The Grinch Stole Christmas was modelled on a member of the Wild Grinch subspecies, while the movie one is modelled on a True Grinch subspecies member. They are often said to be related to Bigfoot or the Sasquatch.  



Habitat:



The one in the movie lived up in a cave on a mountain was of the Wild Grinch subspecies while most ones today live in forests.

Behaviour traits:

Depending on the kind of grinch, their traits often differ. Wild Grinches tend to be more like the one from the book, while the True Grinches and weregrinches are more closer to the movie version.    They do have rather admirable traits such as their extremely high intelligence,  and their expertise in the field of stealth.



Powers:

Most if not all grinches possess keen animal-like senses, super strength, enhanced stealth and agility. Some are also able to shapeshift, True Grinches, Half Grinches and Weregrinches are the best well known examples.    They can also transform people with their breath just like the Grand Duke from Rock A Doodle - a person who is either scratched by a grinch or effected by the breath of one will find themselves turning into one.

Combat:

Given their super strength and combat expertise, they're a pretty deadly force to be reckoned with.  They have superhuman strength and are very very cunning and crafty.   If a person gets scratched by a grinch they get turned into one themselves,  and also to some extent a grinch can transform humans with their breath just like the Grand Duke in Rock A Doodle,  a grinch's breath is highly toxic to Whos and but it has transformative prowess -  and can turn humans into grinches as well.



Special skills:
Most grinches make excellent rogues, and are great at spying and are also masters of disguise. The number of people that are actually grinches in disguise is astoundingly impressive. And the number of grinch sightings always go up even higher each and every year.

Becoming one:

Some members of this species possess the ability to turn people into one of their kind by scratching them with their claws and this includes True Grinches, Half Grinches, and Weregrinches.    They can also transform humans with their breath just like the grand duke from Rock A Doodle.
