For those who don't know, Manimal was a short lived tv series on NBC. The main character in it was a British scientist named Jonathan Chase, now he had this family curse which gave him the power to turn into any animal he wanted.
The main animal forms he turned into were a panther, snake, bull, eagle, dolphin and a horse. The transformation effects were done by the late makeup wizard Stan Winston.
The transformations were often very long and dramatic, but only the panther, snake and eagle ones were ever seen - the dolphin, horse and bull ones were done offscreen. Which means we never got to see those ones take place on screen.
Unfortunately the show got cancelled but luckily you get it on dvd i think. Various bits of it can be seen on youtube including the transformation sequences.
This amazing show was one of a kind, and you rarely get transformations like the ones from the show these days as most are done by computers now.
However if they were to revive it, that would be cool but as long as they don't ruin it. I recall that a bald, goateed reporter with glassess once asked the executives at NBC that question as well as asking about the future of the tonight show with Jay Leno, and in case you were wondering that person was actually Jay himself in disguise
