Monstrous fun

I've always had a love of monsters - i grew up with Tales From The Crypt and all sorts of horror movies.   As for the combining celebrities with monsters thing,  I think that doing that sort of thing, it's fun.    If it wasn't for Tales From The Crypt or Are You Afraid Of The Dark i wouldn't be the monster loving not-so-mad scientist i am today.

Because monsters are fun, one of the things i enjoy most is scary things, i love scary stories, scary movies, scary books, and even scary tv shows.

And even today they still manage to keep me entertained. Some of the stuff that you may think was really scary as a kid actually turns out to be really funny when you're an adult. For example the scene in Disney's Pinnocio where Lampwick turns into a donkey.

I love the Nightmare On Elm Street series, but not the remake. Robert Englund is the one and only Freddy Krueger for me.

David Cronenberg has also been one of my favourite directors, i especially like Videodrome, Scanners and The Fly.

To this day i am impressed by the work of the makeup greats Stan Winston, Rick Baker and Tom Savini.

And if there is anything i have learned from watching the Evil Dead films it's that Bruce Campbell can make anything awesome.

And also some of the best actors start out during horror films,   even Tom Hanks was in a horror film.  And also to extent coincidentally so was John Candy.

It's true,  in fact it was one of his earliest film roles,  he appeared in a low budget canadian horror film called the Clown Murders.     You see the chubby guy in the blue jacket sitting on the car?  That's John's character Ollie.
